Participating institutions of the GIC include Boston Children's Hospital, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC), Children's Hospital at St. Louis/ Washington University at St. Louis (WUSTL), and University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), with contributions/oversight from Harvard Medical School (HMS).

All researchers and clinicians with proper training and credentials at participating GIC sites have access to the GIC Portal and Amazon Workspace.

can login to the GIC Portal to search on the entire network of data, for aggregate results. The portal allows researchers to get an understanding of the number of overall patients within the GIC that meet their research study criteria. If a team of researchers is approved to conduct a specific study using GIC data, they will be given access to data in an Amazon Workspace managed by a participating GIC hospital security team.  The data is fully de-identified before going into the workspace, so the researchers will have the genetic and clinical information that is needed for their study, without being able to trace it back to any particular individual.
